Diamond Tools
In recent years, HIP has become an increasingly popular technique in the manufacture of diamond beads for wire sawing and diamond segments for cutting wheels.
Hot isostatic pressing has proven to be a highly efficient method of consolidating the metal matrix with impregnated diamonds, offering major advantages over uniaxial sintering presses which have traditionally been used. These include dramatically higher throughput, compaction to 100 percent theoretical density, uniform diamond distribution with reduced pullout, improved hardness, and lower grain growth and graphitization at the diamond surface.
Utilization of rapid cooling has dramatically increased production throughput of diamond beads and segments, and may also lead to even further enhancement of material properties.
